Session 4: Coping with Change This session helps participants externalize stress, identify how stress effects them, discover what increases stress and learn how to diminish and weaken its influence on their lives. It begins with an activity that helps group members express their worries with regard to the illness, and further explore their perceptions and feelings relating to how their family life has changed or stayed the same as a result of the illness. The group discusses how unexpressed feelings can affect a person physically. Participants are helped to identify their personal support team, and learn about ways to reduce the stress of living with illness in the family. The session ends with an activity that fosters self-esteem. |
