Session 12: Saying Goodbye This session helps group members say goodbye to one another, and provides children with a positive framework for thinking about the cycle of life and death. The session begins with a discussion in which participants share their thoughts and feelings about the group experience. The children then discuss what it means to say "goodbye" via a story (The Fall of Freddie the Leaf). This is followed by a creative activity in which participants make and exchange mementos. Younger children create paper bag puppets for exchange, and older children put together memory booklets. The session may also include a farewell ritual (awarding of certificates or the release of balloons) and a party. |
